Ground conditions and slabs in Austral NSW
Austral sits on the Cumberland Plain, where the soils weather from Wianamatta Group shale into clay rich profiles with a light surface layer over a dense clay subsoil. Those clays move with moisture, and the slab on your lot is designed to be stiff enough to ride that movement out. Which is the entire reason the pre-pour stage matters more here than the marketing suggests: the stiffness comes from beam depth, steel and cover, and our Austral findings include cover short of minimum and beam reinforcement not as detailed. We do not publish a site class for the suburb, because AS 2870 classification belongs to your lot and your soil report.
